Mission, Vision, Values - in - action
Taking a mission from inspiration to action comes in multiple stages.
Well known but not known well
A mission can become something that gets said effortlessly throughout the day, throughout the journey of a business. It sounds good. It’s easy to say. It ignites energy in others that they step up to get onboard. It can be great for that initial inspiration and energy.
Missions can be well known without being known well. They can easily be these nice sounding statements that don’t get explained or weaved into the company’s rhythms. This short-changes your mission and all your work. Missions need a refresh and need multiple touch points within a business to make it work in every stage of the business.
Define a better MVV
Inspiration to action
A mission needs to connect with every individual in a business and focus them to find solutions in all the small and big decisions that occur.
A vision lifts up beyond today’s tasks and this year’s goals to something bigger that we are all working towards together.
Values in a business are special to the business and felt throughout activities. Values do not need to be shared in words with clients, they are demonstrated everyday. That specialness drives new ideas for growth and impact, and keeps clients coming back to you and sharing with others the impact you make on their life.
You know what great looks like
You know what great looks like. We can know what great looks like but struggle to do it ourselves. That’s a great time to look to others - whether to sort out initial thoughts, to ask for pointers or to ask for hands-on help.
“Creating and integrating
an Empowering personal mission statement is
one of the most important investments
we can make.”
- Stephen Covey
